Saypad Privacy Policy
Last updated:
Saypad is a voice dictation app. You speak, and the text lands at your cursor. CollabEZ FZE LLC (Q9 Labs) publishes it, and “we” on this page means that company.
This page says what Saypad collects, where it goes, and how to delete it.
Your account
Signing in is optional. Local works without an account. To sign in, you give your email address and enter a six-digit code that we send you.
Our servers store your email address, when your account was created, when your trial ends, your plan, and the usage of each dictation: its length in seconds and its cost. They don't store the words you said. Your sessions are stored as hashes.
Audio and text
Saypad records only while you dictate.
With Saypad Cloud, the recording is sent over HTTPS to Saypad's servers. They pass it to speech-recognition providers that process audio on our behalf. The provider turns the audio into text, and Saypad returns the text to you. Each request also carries the dictation language you chose, such as English or Urdu. Saypad's servers don't store the audio or the text.
“Send audio while you talk” is on by default. When it's on, Saypad sends audio while you speak, instead of after you stop.
With Local, the speech model runs on your device.
What stays on your device
Your history stays on your Mac or phone. It holds your transcripts, your audio recordings, and the name of the app where you dictated. Saypad never deletes it automatically, and you can delete it in the app. Android app backup is turned off for Saypad.
Dictionary (Mac)
The words in your dictionary are sent with each Cloud request as spelling hints.
Screen context (Mac)
Screen context is a setting that is off until you turn it on. When it's on, Saypad reads the window title and the text in the field you dictate into. It picks out names and technical words, at most 60, and sends only those words with the request as spelling hints, to improve accuracy. It doesn't send the text itself.
The dictation bubble (Android)
The bubble uses Android's Accessibility service for three things: to see when a text field is selected, to read the text around the cursor so dictated words get the right spacing, and to insert the dictated text. Saypad doesn't store or send what you type or what is on your screen.
You can turn the service off at any time in Android's Accessibility settings.
The Local model download
The first time you use Local, the app downloads the speech model from a public model host. That host sees your IP address, like any download.
Problem reports (Mac)
When you choose “Report a problem”, Saypad sends the last 12 hours of the app's diagnostic log, the app's state, and dictation metadata: timings, status, and app names. A report holds no transcripts, no audio, and no typed keys. If you're signed in, the report is filed under your account and includes your email address so we can reply.
An optional setting, which is off until you turn it on, sends these reports automatically. We keep reports in private storage for 90 days.
Sign-in codes are sent through a transactional email provider.
Updates (Mac)
The Mac app checks https://utter.q9labs.ai/appcast.xml for updates.
Ads, tracking, and your data
Saypad has no ads. It doesn't track you across apps, it doesn't sell your data, and it has no analytics SDKs.
Payments
Saypad has no payments yet. When Pro launches, the app store or a payment processor will handle purchases. Saypad will not see your card number.
Deleting your account
In the Android app, open Account, then Delete account. Otherwise, follow the steps on Delete your Saypad account.
Deleting removes your account, sessions, usage, and plan from Saypad's servers. The history on your devices stays until you delete it or uninstall the app.
Children
Saypad isn't directed at children under 13.
